About Carers Worldwide India
VISION
Our Vision is a world in which every carer is valued and their needs are met.
MISSION
Our Mission is to achieve recognition of the role of carers and to transform the lives of carers, their families and their communities.
About the Organisation?
Carers Worldwide India was founded in 2018 as the sister organisation of Carers Worldwide, to support unpaid family carers across India.
We work closely with our local charity partners to provide practical, emotional and financial support - including peer support groups, counselling, skills training and livelihood support, access to government entitlements - helping carers manage daily challenges, connect with other carers and feel more supported in their role.
Since our inception, our programmes have reached thousands of carers, helping them improve their well - being, reduce isolation and better support their families, contributing to stronger, more resilient communities.
OUR Model
The Carers Worldwide Model
We have developed a model comprising of five core elements which together transform the holistic well-being of carers:
We want as many family carers to be helped as possible, so please feel free to use our model to help support family carers, but if you do so, please credit Carers Worldwide.
Founder's Story
A personal story
Our story is a personal one for our Founder and Executive Director, Anil Patil, and his wife, Development Director, Ruth Patil.
Ruth and Anil worked together in India; Anil in mental health and mental illness and Ruth in children’s speech and language therapy. Through their work, they met many unpaid family carers.
But when they became carers themselves to their daughter, Maya, who has Down syndrome, they saw things differently. They recognised the parents, siblings and grandparents in caring roles who had their own struggles and faced their own challenges. They saw them, understood them, and wanted to help.
